Okay, here we go then. Content creation, one of ChatGBT’s best features, of course, and that we’re all using it for extensively. So in this particular section, I wanted to give you some writing tips, how to get the most out of ChatGBT to get brilliant written content for you or your brand, and some best practices. So we’re going to go through them and we’re also going to use ChatGBT to show you and demo what I’m talking about here. And you’ll see with this one. So use clear and concise prompts. You can’t be wishwashy and vague because you chat GBT. Otherwise, what you’ll get back will likely be wishwashy and vague. So for example, if you’re writing an article about the benefits of yoga, this is just one example. Your prompt could be, Can you give me 10 reasons in a list format why practicing yoga is good for your health? If you are over 50 years old and female, that will produce you a brilliant list if that’s what you are after, versus something really simple. So let me just fire up chat GPT, and we’ll just give it something a bit more vague instead of that.
So let me have a look. Okay. Can you give me 10 reasons why yoga is good for you? And there we go. So it’s giving some good reasons, okay? Now, they’re not bad. They’re not bad. However, what I’m going to do now is use that exact prompt that we’ve got right there. And let’s see if it’s any better. Looking at these, by the way, so we’ve got a reduced stress and anxiety. Yoga incorporates breathing techniques, meditation, and physical postures that can help reduce stress and anxiety levels. So it’s written quite nicely, not too bad at all. But it doesn’t really mention anything about your age, and it’s not really targeted towards females at all either. So now what I’m going to do is I’m going to say it again, but this time exactly as per this concise prompt. Can you give me 10 reasons in a list format why practicing yoga is good for your health? If you are over 50 years old, and female. Now, let’s see what it’s doing here. Now it’s changed its tact slightly, as you can see. And I can see already that it’s picking out the benefits that are specific to that age group.
And I love this. Looking here, so reduces joint pain and stiffness, something you might get as you get older, of course. And it’s saying how yoga postures can help improve joint flexibility, reduce stiffness, and alleviate joint pain commonly associated with ageing. So reading that first line, I think I might try it. And then it’s got increase of strength and balance. That’s something that fails as you get older, reduces stress and anxiety, enhances cardiovascular health. So that’s really good, isn’t it? And then improves digestion. Here we go. Certain yoga postures can help improve digestion and relieve constipation, a common problem for many women over 50. Well, who knew? So this is a really good beneficial list specific to my market. And that is why you need to give really good, clear, and concise prompts with ChatGBT. So hopefully that example worked well for you. Here we go, next. Refine your prompts if needed. So if the first response that you get doesn’t quite hit the mark, try rephrasing your prompt and asking a more specific question. So you can just go back and just literally add to what you said before. If you’re not happy with it, just tell it.
So this list here, that’s really good. I’m just going to say, I’m thinking to myself, what would be really cool is if we had an emoji at the start of each list item. So let’s get it to do that for us. Can you rewrite that list and also add an emoji at the beginning of each list item? And now it will just refer… Oh, look at that. Here you go. Put somebody doing a yoga pose, bone health. It’s given the arm there, and reduces stress and anxiety. Brilliant emoji of someone relaxing. Strength and balance is someone doing some acrobatics or something like that, bit of gymnastics. I’m really good. So I’m able to refine it. If it’s not right the first time, don’t worry about it. You can always improve it as you go along. So that’s another best practice for you. Next one is edit and check the output. And you need to do this because as it says, Chat GPT can generate some amazing content, but it’s still a machine and it might not always get things right. So read through the output, make any necessary corrections to ensure that content is accurate, relevant, and well written, which in the case of what we just did, it really was well written and it was done.
But if that was my business and I was a yoga instructor, I would still want to go through that content and make sure that it wasn’t saying anything wrong because that reflects on me and my brand. So always remember to check through your content and then you can always edit it manually yourself anyway. So that’s no problem at all. Next thing is use formatting. So this is something which I don’t see many people do. And it really makes the content that it spits out, chatGBT, really nice and clear and easily read. And then you can also copy it. You can paste it into a Google Doc as well or wherever you want to put it into perhaps WordPress or any blog software. And here’s what you need to do, you basically just need to add when you’re asking for anything to be written to have the output with markdown. Now, let me give you an example of that. So if we go and we’ll start a new chat here, and I’ll just say, can you write me a 300 word article on the benefits of doing yoga? So this is how it will typically give that to you.
All in paragraphs and everything, it’s not too bad at all. But if I wanted to, I could get it to look an awful lot better than that by adding that markdown and having it all clear. So let me just say the same thing, but this time I’m going to say with using markdown, can you write me a 300 word article on the benefits of doing yoga and also use markdown to format it? I wonder if it’s taken… There you go. It has done that beautifully. I did separate the words mark and down by using this speech to text here on my Mac. But look at that. Isn’t that so much better? So much more clearer for you to have a look at, to scan, make sure the content’s okay. And then when you actually get this and you copy it, and then you go paste it into a Google Doc, it will keep these. These will likely be H3 tags. And then this one will be an H1 tag, which is also good for SEO, by the way, if you’re creating any articles for the purpose of SEO. And yeah, you can just paste it straight in like that, it just saves you an awful lot of time.
So that’s using formatting. And if you want to, you can also, say, use bullet points and things as well. You can add to that. So you can say use markdown and bullet points where appropriate, things like that. The next thing is writing tones. Now, I love writing tones because it really does change the way that the blog article, or the post, or the email, or anything like that sounds. So what is a writing tone? A writing tone is the conveyed emotion or attitude of the writer reflected through their word choice, sentence structure, and style, aiming to impact the reader. And here’s an example. So a writer might use a friendly tone to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, or a formal tone to convey a sense of professionalism and respect. You can really tell the difference with tones. And if we go to this, which I’m going to be giving you to download, all you need to do is go and get it underneath. There’ll be a link right here. Look at all these writing tones that I’ve prepared for you. So friendly, inquisitive, confident, boring, humorous, thoughtful, informative, trustworthy. There’s so many different writing tones.
And what I’ve done is I’ve made this list, and then there is an explanation of each one for you. So let’s just take this one here, celebratory. This tone is festive and joyful, used to mark milestones and special occasions, and is ideal for anniversary celebrations and company milestones. So that’s good. And then appreciative, the tone is grateful and thankful, used to show appreciation and gratitude to customers and clients, and is ideal for thank you emails and customer retention campaigns. So these are gold and there’s loads of them. In fact, we have a list of 38 of them. Just notice that one’s not bold. Got to sort that out. I’m a bit OCD about this stuff. And then what I’ve done is also given you a common sense explanation of what a writing tone is just as a reminder so we don’t get muddled up. So that is the writing tone. And then next up, hopefully you found that useful, the next thing is writing style. And it’s slightly different. And I’m going to tell you the difference between tone and style in just a moment. But writing style is the manner in which a piece of writing is composed, including factors such as organization, language, formality, all contributing to the overall mood.
And here’s an example. Academic writing is formal and will often use technical words, whereas creative writing is more imaginative and expressive. And I have found some real differences in the way that chat GPT writes by using a writing style. You can say, like write like a solicitor, the following, write me a letter to a customer in the manner of a solicitor chasing for payment. And you’ll read it and you’ll think, Wow, this is pretty serious. This is from a solicitor. Or you can have a really nice, friendly, happy tone. So there’s a whole load of them. And again, I have made a killer list for you, which is on this Google Sheet. And by the way, to have this, all you need to do is click on the link, and then you request access. We basically just agree access. You’ll get notified, and then you can just go File, Make a Copy, and then you’ll be able to edit it and play around with it and add to it yourself. Make notes, do whatever you want to do. But you won’t be able to edit it, the initial copy that you get, because of course, it would edit it for everybody.
So you’re going to click File, Make a Copy and do that. Now then, here’s the styles. Look at these. So good list of styles, academic, creative, journalistic is a brilliant one, by the way. Dramaticic, descriptive, conversational. There’s so many of them. And one of my favourites out of all of these is actually narrative. If you use a narrative style, you get a really human feeling blog post or article. It does a really good job. You have to try that one out. Use narrative as the writing style. So this, again, another brilliant use of chatGBT is using all of those different writing styles. Next up, here’s a summary, really, of the difference between the two, because I think it’s good to know that because they sound like they’re the same thing almost. But in summary, writing style refers to the overall approach or manner of the writing, while writing tone specifically refers to the attitude or emotion conveyed by the writing. So it’s like an invisible force that comes across when somebody reads your email or your blog post, whatever you’ve written with chat GPT. So hopefully that’s clear now. Another best practice is to include your target audience.
When you’re giving a prompt to chat GPT to write content for you, give it your target audience so it can craft a better output. And you’ve seen an example of that when I did it with yoga, actually, because obviously the first thing I did was just say, Hey, write me a list of yoga benefits. And then when I did it for that over 50 female, wow, what a difference. Really good list that somebody of that age and gender would love. For example, write me a social media post with 10 tips for better their gardening, the target audience is the over 60s. So that will get you better results by including that target audience anytime that you write. And you’ll see the next thing is the customer archetype. Now, if you have never heard of this before, basically a customer archetype is a fictional character that represents a particular type of customer or consumer based on their common traits, behaviours, and preferences. So it’s a person, a type of person. And here’s an example of how we would do this. Write me an email to help sell my high quality organic mattress to my audience who are a sceptical archetype.
Okay, so I’ve got a whole list of different customer archetypes. Look at this right here for you to save you a lot of time. Plus, there’s a description of each sort here. So we’ve got the entrepreneur, which many people in this course are. The customer is motivated by business success and may be interested in coaching and consulting services that help them start a grow business. Then we’ve got the skeptic, which is one I have just used there, sceptical of traditional methods and may be looking for more innovative approaches to problem solving. So that’s interesting. So we’ve got a whole list of them there that you can use in your prompts and then an explanation in more detail there about the whole customer archetypes. But if we go back over to here now and I’m just going to use Chat GPT once more and let’s just see what it does when we use that particular thing there. So I’m just going to get it to write an email as per that example just there. And then it’s got dear, or whatever your name is, are you tired of sleeping on a mattress that doesn’t provide the comfort and support your body needs, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And let’s just see if it’s got anything in there that it might use to actually pull somebody over who was a skeptic. Let’s see. Lastly, organic mattresses are better for the environment. They’re made of sustainable materials that are biodegradable and don’t contribute to environmental degradation. They’re made from the finest natural materials. Oh, and it said here in the last paragraph, if you’re still sceptical about the benefits of owning an organic mattress, I encourage you to try one for yourself. We offer a risk free trial period so you can try our mattresses in the comfort of your own home and see the benefits for yourself. So it does actually address that particular type of person right there. So let me just pull that down a little bit so you can see. There we go. So that’s how you can use customer archetypes. And again, they’re all on that spreadsheet for you that I’m providing you with. Next up, provide the intended output type. So this is really simple. Are you writing this for a newsletter, for a text message, a case study, a report? And then it will just give it better context as to why it’s doing this.
So I think in that example just there, I did say email. So that’s what we mean by the output type. If I just said, Write me some content to help sell my high quality organic mattress to my audience, it wouldn’t have done the same thing. It’s already put in there, dear name, and then signed it off with best regards, your name. And it’s put in the little holding points for your company. It just makes it so much quicker and easier. And there’s a whole list of the output types. Again, I’ve made for you here in the spreadsheet, we’ve got legal documents, reports, statements, newsletters, even stand up comedy, if that’s your thing, research papers, financial plans. When it knows what it’s creating the content for, it will do a better job for you. That’s really what it comes down to. Next, use multiple prompts and combine the outputs. Now, this is an interesting one. So you can use the output from one prompt to two as a starting point, and then use that for another prompt. And also you can take two of these answers that it gives back and create one piece of content from it.
So here’s a good example of that. So if we go back to a previous chat here. Let me just try and find that one out now. Let’s go for that article that we had, the yoga benefits. There it is. So we’ve got this list here of yoga benefits. Now I’ve got that, love it. But what I’d like to do is to have it create also a list of FAQs, Frequently Asked Questions that go with that article. So can you produce the list of 10 frequently asked questions based on that article? And now we’ve got this list coming up right here. So what is yoga? What are the physical benefits of yoga? I will get it to provide the answers as well. Could you also give the answers to the frequently asked questions as well as the question itself? There we go. Let’s see if it can get that one. Here we go. So that’s better. What is yoga? Answer. This is why you see that that is another demonstration of how you can refine your prompts. If they’re not good enough to get the job done, you add something to it and then it gets better.
So now we’ve got ourselves a really good Frequently Asked Questions list, which I would combine with that article, because also, by the way, as a separate note, Google really likes that. Apparently, they really like articles that also have FAQs as well. So having the two of these together, those two pieces of content, the two outputs together will make a much more powerful singular piece of content. So hopefully that makes sense. Next, give chatGBT the required output length. This is a really simple one, but again, it does help it to get the job done correctly for you straight away. So if you want an article or whatever for 750 words or 1,000 words, tell it, basically. And also if you know how many characters you need for a meta description, so it doesn’t just go off on one and start writing a huge meta description, which is the description used by the search engines. When you do a search on Google, you’ll see the descriptions there. It can only be a certain amount of characters. I think it is 160 characters. I wrote that off the top of my head, but I think it’s 160 characters.
Then just tell chatGBT that when you’re entering the prompt. So that’s that, fairly straightforward. And here we have, behold, the ideal prompt. And so this is like a full prompt that I would use to create an article, for example, using all of the things that we’ve discussed in this initial writing tips section. So write me a 500 word article based on the keyword table tennis tips in a friendly tone and descriptive style. Do you know what I’m going to do? Instead of reading this out, I am actually going to just say it and put it straight into chat GPT and then let’s see what it does. So I’ll have to just move this window over a second. I’m just going to do that and then I’ll bring it back in. So, Write me a 500 word article based on the keyword table tennis tips in a friendly and descriptive style. Full stop. My target audience is men and women approaching retirement age who want to start playing table tennis to keep fit and have fun. Format the article with markdown and remove pre and post text. Okay, we are done. So now that I’ve done that, I want to show it to you actually doing the job.
So let’s bring it over here into play. And what we’re going to do is we’re going to just take a look and see how well it manages to do that based on what it is that we have said. Let’s bring it into the middle. There you go. So first of all, it’s formatted it up beautifully, which is what we want. Table tennis tips for seniors, staying fit and having fun. That’s amazing. It’s broken it down into sections with equipment, technique, the strategy, practice, love it, enjoyment, all of these key benefits of doing the sport. And then if we just take a little look through it, what I’d like to see is some relevance to my target audience. So let’s go to the initial opening introduction here. Are you approaching retirement age and looking for a fun way to stay active and healthy? Perfect. So I had mentioned in my prompt, of course, about keeping fit, having fun, and all being in retirement age. So this article would likely do really well in the search engines. We may rewrite it slightly using something like Quillbot, but ultimately, what you’re seeing is a fantastic article based on that prompt.
And there we have it. That’s the section done now for writing tips. So don’t forget to get access to all of the writing tones, styles, outputs, and everything else by clicking on the link and then requesting access, and we’ll get that to you ASAP. Thanks for watching.
